Located between beautiful Traverse City and Leelanau County in northern Michigan, Jacob’s Farm has been offering family fun for many years! With their amazing corn maze that features a different theme every year and plenty of other family oriented things to do, you’ll be glad you stopped by for a visit!
Jacob’s Farm has been owned and operated by the same family for over 120 years! In existence since 1892, it is recognized as a centennial farm by the State of Michigan’s Historical Commission! The farm’s history is a great one and can be read on their website.
From late August to November, you can get lost in the amazing corn maze at Jacob’s Farm. This 10-acre maze features five miles of trails and a design that is computer generated. Each year features a new theme, such as Escape from Egypt, and there are stations that feature information about the theme for a great educational opportunity. On Friday and Saturday nights, the maze stays open until 9pm, so grab a flashlight and check it out in the dark! If you visit during the Halloween season, the maze is even “haunted!”
Other Fun Things To Do
After you make it out of the maze, try some other activities at the farm. They also have homemade donuts and apple cider that everyone loves indulging in.
Hop on the farm wagon for a ride around the property! Horses usually pull the wagon, but if for some reason they aren’t available it’ll be pulled by a tractor. It’s a great way to see the entire farm.
Jacob’s You Pick
Depending on the time of year you’re there, you can pick treats yourself! They grow apples, berries, and in the fall, pumpkins! Then you can head over to the farmer’s market to pick up more goodies as well as some other things you won’t find at your usual farmer’s market. The potting and planting mix created from their composting process is great to take home and use in your own garden!
Have you ever wondered just how far you can chuck an apple? Use their sling to find out! Any of the apples that aren’t good enough for eating get sent to the apple sling where you can catapult them at life-sized targets of football players with both Michigan and Michigan State jerseys on!
